1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using light-of-liberty.com (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Light of Liberty provides constitutional fidelity analysis based solely on the plain text of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and all ratified Amendments. The Platform scores public officials’ actions against these founding documents and provides civic engagement tools including scorecards, Constitutional Briefs, and representative contact information.

3. Educational Purpose

All content, analysis, scores, and information provided by the Platform are for philosophical and educational purposes only. Nothing on this Platform constitutes legal advice, political endorsement, or advocacy for or against any candidate, party, or position. The Platform does not tell you what to think — it shows you what the documents say.

4. Non-Partisan Commitment

The Platform is strictly non-partisan. All scoring is party-blind, identity-blind, and based solely on the text of the founding documents. The Platform does not endorse, support, or oppose any political party, candidate, or ideology. Fidelity scores measure alignment with constitutional text, not political correctness or partisan loyalty.

5. Accounts and Subscriptions

You may use the Platform without an account, subject to free-tier usage limits. Creating an account requires a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe and are subject to the pricing and terms displayed on the pricing page at the time of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled. You may cancel at any time through your account page or the Stripe Customer Portal.

6. Cancellation Policy

All subscription payments are non-refundable. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and you will retain full access to your plan’s features through the end of your current billing period. For annual plans, this means your access continues through the remainder of your prepaid year. Cancellation simply stops automatic renewal — no further charges will be applied.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the Platform for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform or its systems; use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download data beyond your tier’s API limits; misrepresent scores or analysis as official government positions; use the Platform to harass, defame, or threaten any individual; or redistribute paid-tier content without authorization.

8. Intellectual Property

The scoring algorithms, analysis methodology, user interface design, and original content of the Platform are the intellectual property of Light of Liberty. The founding documents themselves are in the public domain. Fidelity scores and Constitutional Briefs generated by the Platform may be shared and cited with attribution to light-of-liberty.com.

9. API Usage

API access is subject to rate limits defined by your subscription tier. Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary throttling. Persistent abuse may result in account suspension. API keys are personal and may not be shared or resold.

10. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In brief: we collect minimal data, we do not sell your information, we do not track you across sessions without your consent, and we do not serve advertisements.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that analysis scores are free from error, that the Platform will be available without interruption, or that the scoring methodology will remain unchanged. Scores reflect algorithmic analysis of publicly available data and should not be the sole basis for any decision.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Light of Liberty shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

13. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform or email to registered users. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
